- DAY 1. Anchorage - Talkeetna (205mi/330km)
The day starts with a ride through Palmer and up Hatcher Pass, (opens July 1 st) which is mostly paved with a maintained dirt/gravel (20mi/32km) section over the top of the pass (elev.3886ft/1184m). Glacial fed turquoise lakes to see on this old Alaska mining road. Staying the night in Talkeetna which is a small town with big views of Denali. This is the starting point for anxious climbers waiting for their weather windows to open for their attempt to summit the tallest mountain in North America. Pubs, restaurants, entertainment, and epic mountain views at this stop.
- DAY 2 Talkeetna - Denali Hwy. (180mi/289km)
A great ride north up the Parks Hwy, with majestic views of Denali and an ever changing landscape. Then onto the Denali Hwy. where you will feel the vast open freedom of Alaska. This is really a unique adventure that is best experienced by motorcycle. private cabin lodging, restaurant and bar.
- DAY 3 Denali Hwy - Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge. (125mi/201km)
Day 4 Copper River - McCarthy (120mi/193km)
You’ll ride into the middle of Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve, which has (44mi/70km) dirt/gravel road. Plenty of sights to see on this journey. The road was built over railroad route that was originally for the copper mine in Kennecott.
- DAY 5 McCarthy - (rest/explore/excursion)
These excursions are endless. McCarthy is a playground for the adventurous. Excursions; ice climbing, glacier hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, pack rafting, flight seeing, copper mine tours, mountain biking, swimming, and more.
- DAY 6 McCarthy - Valdez (187mi/300km)
This ride over Thompson Pass is remarkable. The World Extreme Skiing Championships were held here in the 90’s and is still one of the most sought after ski destinations in North America. Sheer rock walls, slot canyons and several giant waterfall along the road. You’ll will stay in Valdez, which is where the Trans Alaska Pipeline ends.
- DAY 7 Valdez - Anchorage (305mi ride) or (55mi/89km riding+ 5hr ferry crossing)
If you time you trip right you may be able to take the ferry back. Early start day for a ferry voyage through Prince William Sound, this large vessel is part of the Alaska Marine Hwy.(Reservations should be made as early as possible) Many have called it the Alaska Wildlife Hwy…. not to mention all the glaciers to see along the route. You’ll will arrive in Whittier in the afternoon and ride through the tunnel, along Turnagain arm and Back to Anchorage.
